Mountain Grind Race

 Before- all clean!

Today I did the most fun race I have ever done- a local race in it's first year, called The Mountain Grind. It was a 9 km trail run with 13 obstacles along the way. Now, these were not just any obstacles, but some pretty crazy ones, but FUN, FUN, FUN!! They included: monkey bars (by the way, our team was called "We don't do Monkeybars," but we did by helping each other!), running through tires (like in football movies), a rock climbing wall and rappelling down, a log carry, 3 rope swings 15 feet apart (you had to swing from one log to the next- my favourite obstacle), walk a skinny plank over a COLD creek, log hurdles up a hill and through big dips, a log walk across a river, a homemade waterslide that ended up in a pool of freezing cold water, walking through a mud bog, going through swinging tires while running through tires, mini walls to jump, and the muddiest part: going over and under logs through a big mud pit. I did the race with 4 friends and we had a blast! It was a very well organized event- especially for it's first year. Maude- next year you have to come over for it! Thanks to my training peeps- love our weekly runs!!!

Aja's 8!!

Aja celebrated her 8th birthday last week and we just had her party yesterday. The parties become easier the older they get, as all they want to do is be with their friends! It was a sunny day, so they decorated cupcakes, had ice cream sundaes, and played outside. Easy peasy!

40th Birthday

I celebrated my 40th birthday party last night with great friends and family. My Mom, Dad Cheryl and my brother all came out for it, which was such a treat! My brother surprised me, which was just amazing!!! I had a weekend full of great time with friends and family, which is exactly what I wanted for my birthday! My parents arrived on Thursday, and on Friday my brother arrived, so we went out for a lovely dinner on Friday night. On Saturday, we had a party here which was tonnes of fun! I feel so lucky to have the people in my lives that I do!! Chris did an amazing job organizing and speaking, and a big thanks to my Mom, Cheryl and Evva for all their cleaning! Today ended off with a great ride with Maude and Shawn who travelled from the island. I didn't get many pictures, but here are a few.
