Porpoise Bay

Sun + Water + Kids = 4 hours of laughing and smiling at Porpoise Bay Beach today. Click to see the larger images.  Look at the one of the 4 girls with their arms around each other- I can see trouble as teenagers already!

A Dancer in the Making!

Aja's passion, yes passion, is dancing! Every morning after breakfast, and again after dinner (and sometimes in betwen), she goes through the same routine. She asks to put on a dress so that she can dance. On goes the music and she becomes a true ballerina in the making. In this video, she's demonstrating her twirly arms and a plie. For those of you that can't decipher the language of a 2 year old, she's saying "Nona, dance with me" and "Nona, go away." She says "Sedona" now, but usually sticks to the nickname "Nona" that she has used for months.

Check it Out Geo!

Geo came over tonight and Aja just glommed onto him and wanted to spend all her time with him, so here she is showing him her artwork.

SE Asia video

Here is a little video clip that I put together for our Alternative Talent show. I am still in my experimental stage but as time allows, I will continue add content. The one negative about uploading this video clip is the the loss of image quality. However that's the price one must pay to upload into the Cloud.

New Pool

Chris has been working hard the last few days levelling the ground with sand so we could get this pool ready for the girls. When we got home from preschool/daycare today and they found out that the pool was ready, they were in their bathing suits and out the door so fast. By the end, Aja was shaking from the cold, but still didn't want to get out. It will be a good summer occupier! (If you're wondering what's up with Sedona's pink face, her preschool teacher often face paints their faces and today she was a butterfly).

The Kids' Favorite Bike Loop

This was at Kinnikinnick Park. Aja got a turn on the run bike once Owen and Sedona abandonned their bikes to pick Salmonberries with Grandpa (or something like that... thanks for carrying the bikes Grandpa!)

Boracay Island, Phillipines. November 1998

When Andrew and I left for our travels in October 1998, the first stop was the wild and woolly country of the Phillippines. This photo was taken on about day 2 of the 4 day typhoon(Typpoon in the Phillies) that we weathered while on Boracay Island. Enduring the 4 day long "brown-out" was made possible by random beach walks and the surprise arrival of Anders the Dane.

Dahab April 1997

Over the last 5 months I have scanned heaps of old travel phots. My hope is that this summer I may even dive into some of my journals and begin transferring them online. Until then when time allows, I shall post random photos. Memory permitting, I may also provide historical context of the photo.
This young man here is a proud member of the bedeuoin  tribe. He was located on the outskirts of Dahab, Egypt. The colours of camel's harness really standout, as do the faces of the camel and driver.

Baby Beluga

A City Day

Today the girls and I went into Vancouver to meet the newest baby in our life: Charlotte and she is sooo beautiful! She is my oldest friend Erin (and Andrew's) daughter. They met us at the aquarium with Elliott who is just a few weeks older than Aja. We got to see the new baby Beluga (3 days old) up close and personal. Afterwards we went on the Stanley Park train ride followed by a great toddler water park. It' fun to mix things up once in a while!

1st Ballet Recital

Sedona had her first ballet recital tonight. I have to admit I was complaining quite a bit about the whole hoopla around it- dress rehearsal last weekend, today, a perforance tonight and 2 more performances tomorrow. Frankly, I think that's too much to ask of 4 year olds (especially when the nighttime performance didn't end until 8:30 (past all their bedtimes). However..... it was all worth it in the end! The little munchkins were so darn cute. After Sedona's dress reharsal today, the first thing she said was "I want to go on stage and dance again." Lesson learned: don't complain before the actual event in anticipation as it may surprise you! And, yes, I did have tears watching them all three times! This video is for the grandparents (and others who are interested) to enjoy!
