I have finally made the jump over to gmail. Chris' new and permanent email address is proflex515@gmail.com. I am phasing out hotmail and Outlook express and have taken the exit off of facebook so gmail is where I shall now exist. I have been pondering it for a while but with the advent of Picasa for Mac and the reading I have done of Google's next adventure googlewave I figured it was time to make the switch. That said I just finished an enlightening conversation at a birthday party where an I.T. whiz infomed me that the rub on Google, and that includes Picasa, youtube, Googel Chrome and of course gmail is that they save every single thing you do on Google, from searches to pics loaded on Picasa...oh well. I guess I gave up my anonymity a long time ago.
I am also in the process of scanningmy old travel pics, so as they come up I will post them onto my Picasa web album(and forever surrender them over to Google!)

Observations on Childhood Play
Our friend came over tonight with her 3 boys. We have played with them many times before, but it really struck me tonight that when girls play with boys, rather than other girls, it's different. They just ripped around and had so much fun. Yes, girls do that too, but it is different. I can't put my finger on it, but it was really interesting to watch.

First Beach Day of the Season
Although we frequent different beaches often, today was the first day of the season where it was warm enough to really splash around and play in the water. You will notice that Aja, who until 2 weeks ago would hold nothing that moves, now follows in her big sister's footsteps. Today she was holding sea stars, sea worms and crabs. She also loves turning over rocks and logs now and holding worms, wood bugs and snails. Yeah- we like seeing them get right in there face to face with all these little creatures!

Always Looking for Some Fun!

.jpg)
It doesn't take much to excite us! If there's ever a community/family event, you'll find us at it. We love the fun fairs, parades, and children's festivals, especially if there's a bouncy castle and face painting involved. In the last 2 weeks there have been 2 Fun Fairs at local schools and a May Day parade, so life is good!
As I've often mentioned, I love each perspective age for different reasons. What I love about Aja's age right now is her ever emerging vocabulary and how she speaks in full sentences. She has a tremendous sense of humor too! And Sedona is just so helpful in the garden and being a big sister. It's also really fun to watch her make her own friends, rather than just friends due to parents knowing each other. She talks a lot about certain friends and it's so neat watching them play together. One thing I've learned about 4 year old girls is that they love to hug each other and squeal in delight in each other's presence!

"My Special Chair"
Sedona has her own chair in our house: the leather Lazyboy and you better not go near it if she's in it. However, she does occasionally allow Aja to climb up, sit in her lap and cuddle. Mom and Dad are allowed less frequent cuddles in the chair.

A Perfect Mother's Day
Today was a perfect day! I was up before anyone else so I got to read in bed for a while. No breakfast in bed today because I did a 15 km run with a friend this morning and needed to eat light! But I did get treated very well all day and got a beautiful gift/card from Chris and the girls. We spent about 4 hours out in the yard this afternoon and I delighted in just watching the girls play- at the time I thought "this is perfect for Mother's Day- watching the girls play and have so much fun!" If you click on the collage, you'll see all the fun they had. The night was topped off by a delicious dinner made by Chris! Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms out there, and especially mine, because in my eyes, she really is the most special one out there! I love you Mom!
Sedona's Flower
Yesterday when we went to pick out my yearly Mother's Day hanging basket, Sedona really wanted to get this flower. So we brought it home and she painted the pot for it out in yesterday's sun.

Fishergirl!
Sedona spent the day with Grandma and Grandpa the other day and look what she did: caught her first fish! Grandpa took her fishing at Trout Lake where he took Chris as a kid as well. Then Grandma met them afterwards for a picnic!
Britannia Mining Museum
Last week was one of those crazy weeks. I went to school one day to find out that an old student (whose brother I teach now) had died. That same day, I found out my friend's husband had ended his battle with a brain tumour (33 years old) and 2 days later found out one of my dearest and oldest friends had also lost her partner (36 years old)- he was skiing in the back country and fell into a cravasse. So it was an emotional and very busy week as I had to work 1 more day than usual as well. We were going to go up to Squamish for Hannes' Celebration of Life on the Staurday and come back that same night. Then we decided to take our time and make a little trip of it. So we stopped at the Britannia Mining Museum on the way- it was quite interesting as we went undergound and heard all about the mining and got to go on a little train ride. Chris also tried his luck at goldpanning and struck it rich with a fleck or 2! After a beautiful celebration of life, we spent the night in a hotel. I guess this posting is really to remind you to appreciate what you have because you just never know how life is going to unfold. That's why it was nice to just go away for the weekend and enjoy some time as a family.
