Evva gave these new runners to Aja for her birthday, and it's taken her to a whole new level! Last weekend she asked me to go "jogging" with her which was a first! I took her on the trails and then a gravel road and she ran straight for about 20 minutes!

Sunshine Coaster Mountain Bike Race
Yesterday Chris and I did the Sunshine Coaster Mountain Bike Race. It was 25 km. The first 9 m were basically uphill on either logging roads or trails and then the rest was a bit of everything. Chris did this race 10 years ago, but it was my first mountain bike race (besides the Adventure Races that have mountain biking in them). I found that I rode about 60% of the course without even seeing anyone, so it felt like just another Saturday morning ride, except I had no idea how long it would take or how many kilometers in I was, as I didn't know the trails/course and didn't have a watch on. It poured rain the majority of the race, but it was actually refreshing. I wish I had "after" pictures, because we were literally covered in mud from head to toe! Chris finished the race in 1 hour and 59 minutes, and came in 3rd in his age category!!!!! (Our friend Shawn is beside him in the photo in 1st place). I finished in 2 hours and 20 minutes. It was a lot of fun and felt good and got the heart pumping that's for sure. Robert, Chris' Dad, was en route with Search and Rescue, providing First Aid, so he too these photos of us climbing the logging road.

Look who got their Ears Pierced!
Aja had her ears pierced a couple of years ago, but they got infected so we had to let them grow over. This time we decided to go with the "needle" as opposed to the "gun."When Sedona heard we were going to get Aja's ears done, she decided she wanted to get one more hole in just one of her ears. They are both very excited and did really well! The woman was a bit worried about doing someone as young as Aja because they often have trouble, but I told her Aja would be fine. Anytime she does things like this (when she first got her ears done, the dentis, doctor etc)., she doesn't even flinch! She actually has an easier time of it than her big sister!

A "Pinkalicious" Party
Aja's birthday party had a "Pinkalicious" theme. For those of you don't know what this is, it's a book where a little girl eats too many pink cupcakes and turns pink. Her entire world is pink. The only way she can get back to her normal self is to eat green foods. So, everything was about pink today, with a little green thrown in. The girls decorated edible star wands with pink icing, deocrated pink flipflops to wear/keep after their pedicures with pink nailpolish, played "pin the cherry on the cupcake" and Pinkalicious BINGO, and ate pink and green foods (pink popcorn, pink chocolate covered strawberries, pink candy, watermelon, granny smith apples, snowpeas, cucumber and celery and pink cupcakes of course)!

Training
Chris and I are training for a mountain bike race in a couple of weeks here on the coast, so we have been trying to get on our bikes more lately.
