Swimming Pool Fun

Sedona's favorite pasttime.

Whatever it Takes

Sometimes we pull out all stops to entertain Aja so we can get stuff done- the first one is Aja playing with shaving cream while I showered and the second is of her in the laundry room sink while I did the laundry.

July Thermometer check

For the unaware(though I think everyone knows!) the West Coast is experiencing some serious heat. Here's a pic of the thermometer that you can't really see. 3:10pm. Temp at a blamy 37 degrees C in the shade. How's that for summer heat!

summer sleep in summer heat

A timely article I found on Twitter on how to sleep well in the summer heat. I just stuck our sheets in the freezer. I'll let you know how she works out. chris

Van Isle

We just got back from a great 8 day trip to Vancouver Island. We spent our first 5 days at Chris' old buddies' Rob and Amanda's house. They have a 6 and 8 year old girl so Sedona and Aja were in their glory (not to mention the trampoline, pool and playset)! We got to visit with relatives (a nice family dinner at Auntie Irene's), friends, and bring the kids to some great spots. Chris and I also got out for a ride each in our old stomping grounds (Chris' ride was a little more adventurous as there was an unexpected forest fire and they had helicopters hovering over them and the fire fighters telling them to turn back).

Next we headed up island to Aunt Cathy's cabin on Horne Lake where we spent 3 nights. Aunt Cathy, Cousin Jenny and Cousin Nathan spent the first day up there with us, and then we spent the other two days alone swimming, biking and exploring the nearby beach/park.

We then headed to Nanaimo for Cousin Caitly's first birthday party where we got to catch up with some more relatives. Our trip ended in Forbidden Plateau near Courtenay where we spent the night with Shayne and Andrea.

Thank you everyone for your hospitality- we had so much fun. Sedona declared that she would like to move to Vancouver Island one day! The girls are great little travellers and we felt really lucky to have this time together as a family!

The Allens go Camping!

It's so great to see the cousins getting along so well! We just wish the Kelly cousins could be here as well!

Our Own Cleaning "Girl"

You can't pull out the vaccuum without Aja wanting to take over the job. I figure it's good that she's getting an early start as I'm not the neatest of housekeepers!

Gibsons Boat Tour

After a couple of days of rain, we were happy that the sun was out so we could take the girls on the promised boat ride in Gibsons. It was an hour and a half ride with a stop at Keats Island for a picnic lunch. We were supposed to do this two years ago when Nan and PK came to visit but the weather was so bad, so we finally got to go!

I Love my Dad!

We had a babysitter tonight so Chris, my Dad, Cheryl and I could go out for dinner. For you locals out there, we tried the Painted Boat in Medeira Park and it was excellent!

New DJ in the Making

Aja's just like her Dad when it comes to music- the two of them are always beebopping and singing tunes around the house!

Of Course it's Raining!

Without fail, when my family comes to visit from Ontario, it's either pouring rain or freak snowstorms where we're housebound! So it wasn't a big surprise when it rained quite heavily for the first two days of Nan and PK's visit after endless days of sun. Don't get me wrong, we need the rain; it's just too bad it happened to be when the out of town guests arrived! Chris and I did manage to get out for a very nice, yet MUDDY ride today. Click on the image to see our legs... okay, so I'm guilty of just plowing through the puddles sometimes!

Fun with Nan and Grandpa PK

PK is being a very good patient while the girls check him over.

Nan is always full of hugs (and she's an especially good dish washer!!!)

Van Isle visit

For those Island residents who view the blog, just a heads up that we will be visiting the island. We arrive on July 19 and will start in Victoria and head north from there. We plan on exiting the Island via Comox. We look forward to seeing and meeting all of our new cousins and friends that have made their appearance in the last couple of years. See you all soon! chris and family.
