Warm Red Cabbage Salad

We have the most beautiful heads of red cabbage in our garden and I jsut wanted to share a great way to cook it, as it's so yummy! We chopped fresh arugula and basil from the garden as well. Cook the sliced cabbage for about 10 minutes. Add some red wine vinegar, oil, chopped bacon and goat cheese. Add the basil and arugula at the end and serve warm... so yummy!

Thormanby Island

Our friends took us over to Thromanby Island this afternoon for a picnic dinner on the beach. We went with a few families and went to a different beach than when we normally go to on Thormanby. Aja looked at me at one point and said "Mom, isn't this just the best place?" and had a great time playing in the sandpit and building beach forts with her buddy Carter. Sedona got to try out her new snorkelling gear and go tubing. Thanks Dave and Jeanette for a great afternoon/evening!

Camping Trip #2 to Porpoise Bay

We just spent another couple of days at our favorite campsite: Porpoise Bay. The girls had a great time with Sedona's friend Megan and her sister Kailey. They spent lots of time swimming, biking, dancing on the stage, kayaking and playing babies. Chris and I love going there with the girls!

The Allen Boys Come to Visit

Nana and the boys came to spend an afternoon/dinner with us at the campsite. The girls LOVE playing babies and introduced this novel game to the boys. It was so funny listening to Aja explain the ideas behind the game- picking names, ages etc.

Chocolate Pancakes!

Anything goes while camping... Yesterday, Sedona asked me if we were having choclate pancakes like last year. I had forgotten we even did, but once reminded, remembered that I had made raspberry chocolate pancakes last year. So this morning, we used the remainder of our choclate from SMORES to make pancakes! Yummy!

Uncle Adam Visits

Last week, my brother was in Vancouver for 1 day for work meetings. He managed to sneak over to the coast for a day/night to catch up. What a treat! He had the girls in stitches the entire time with his faux English accent.

Tea Party

When we went to San Francisco, Grandma Lou came and took care of the girls, and she even organized a tea party for them and their friends, a neighbour, Grandma Karen and Nana! Thanks for everything Grandma Lou- it sure made Mom and Dad's anniversary special!

San Fran- Day 1

When we arrived to San Francisco, it was freezing! We got to our hotel in the arly afternoon, and made our way down to Fisherman's Wharf where we took a boat cruise around the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. We learned a lot about the history of San Francisco. That night, we ventured away from the touristy area and found a great Mexican Taqueria and had AMAZING food.

Walking to Fisherman's Wharf

On our way to Fisherman's Wharf, we saw all sorts of neat areas, including Chinatown. The architecture is like nothing else I've ever seen. The houses are so close together.

Day 2: 25 Km Bike Ride around the City

Today we did a 25 km bike ride around the city, exploring all different areas, going through the parks, to the Presidio and back down to the water again. Exploring the city by the bike was a great way to see everything.

Haight and Ashbury

On our city ride, we made a detour to Haight and Ashbury, otherwise known, as the "hippy" area, but ironically, it's very expensive!
