Adventures at the Farm

It's always fun at grandma and grandpa's farm. Last weekend, Great aunt Cathy and Great aunt Margot came to visit. The kids had a ball riding their bikes, going for tractor rides with Grandpa, roasting marshmallows, but the most fun was... playing in the bathroom in the woods. Sorry, no pictures as of yet. I will try to download Margot's though because they're hilarious. They played in the cleared area with a portable potty for a solid hour! Who ever thought going to the bathroom was so much fun!

I love You!

This morning Sedona was "reading" when Aja went in for a snuggle. They satyed like this for about 10 minutes while Sedona read to Aja. Later on today, Sedona said to Aja "I love you Aja. You're my best friend in the whole world!!!!"

A Future Calling?

Whenever things get really quiet around here, I know where to find Aja: going through the spice drawer! She pulls a chair over herself and just starts pulling them out and smelling!

Mini blog mantainence

FYI. I have eased up on comment moderation as Creepy Random Guy stopped posting comments on our blog. I believe I have also changed the setting to make it that anyone(not just Google Account holders) can post a comment on the blog. Part of the joy of the blog is the interactive aspect of it. That is, who is viewing it, and what they think of random pics and thoughts that appear. Next up I am going to start archiving my travel pics from Europe/Asia/Australia. I have slowly begun scanning this pics into digital format. Full time life makes it a very slow process, but it is so much fun to see these images once again.

Here's a slideshow of our recent spring break trip to Kauai. We had a great time exploring and relaxing on the Garden Island. Enjoy the pics.

Early Birthday

Last night we had some friends over and decided to sing an early happy birthday to Aja. She wasn't too sure about the singing part, but sure loved the cupcakes!

Chapman Falls

You've gotta love the long weekends! Today was a gorgeous day so we ended up spending a lot of time outside- one walk through the woods, one on a beach and then we biked to Chapman Falls. Sedona went behind me on the trail-a-bike and Chris pulled Aja in the stroller. Thank goodness the girls have gone along with our love of being active outdoors! These shots are at Chapman Falls- Chris' old stomping grounds. He told me this was where he first started "mountain biking" as a kid as they would ride to the falls and then go swimming.

Mission Accomplished!

Yeah... today was the April Fool's Run- my first half marathon (21.1 kms). I say my first, because yes, I can see doing another one. I have to say I really enjoyed the training process. I have always run here and there as a quick form of exercise, but was never one to get those "runner's highs." However, having a goal to work towards made it all the more fun (I'm a goal oriented kind of gal). I loved my training runs with Christina and it made it so much easier to do it with someone, especially someone with whom I never tire of spending time. When I first signed up for this and started training, I was thinking that maybe I'd do it between 2 hours and 2 hours and 15 minutes. We ended up doing 21 kms about a month ago in 2 hours and 2 minutes so then my goal for today changed to do it under 2 hours. I was a bit worried this week though as I hadn't been sleeping much all week as Aja has had a cold and hasn't slept well (read between the lines: I didn't sleep well either then)! I also had a stuffed up nose for a few days so it was difficult to breathe. I also hadn't done more than 15 kms since our last 21 kms run a month ago. So all week, I was kind of anticipating what today would be like. But.... I did it in just over 1 hour and 55 minutes! And it was fun and felt good. So, thank you Christina for all the training runs. And a big thank you to Chris for being so patient and accomodating while I trained! I saw a friend at the finish line (who didn't run) who said "I can't believe you did that. You're so fit." Well, let me tell you, anyone can do it. It started as a goal. I had never run past 10 kms and we just built up to it. Find your goals and work towards them!!!! It feels good.
P.S. This was the backdrop at the finish line.

Touch it Aja!

Unlike Sedona, Aja does not as of yet have a love of insects or sealife of any sort. She loves looking at them, but wants nothing to do with touching them. This was last night- we had a pizza on the beach- 2 days before this, it was snowing!

Ali Comes to Visit!

My cousin Alison was in Vancouver working on the Juno Awards, so she extended her trip and came to visit us for a few days. The girls adored her and she was so good with them. We loved having her here- some highlights were hiking at Hidden Grove, flying a kite on a very windy day and shopping.... with no kids! Thanks for everything Al!
