Jingle Bells

Today in Sedona's music class, they made homemade instruments using paint sticks, bells, beads, pipe cleaners and stickers. Sedona's singing "Jingle Bells" here to get into the Christmas spirit!

First Snowfall of the Season

We were all feeling a little tired and were wondering what to do with the night. We decided to have a picnic on the living room floor for a change (Notice anything different about Chris)? Sedona set the blanket for us and while we were eating, we looked outside and knew exactly how we were going to pass the next hour.... play in the snow. Big white flakes were coming down, so we bundled up and went for a walk around the block. Aja enjoyed her first snowfall, singing the entire way!

Our Little Bookworm

We love watching Sedona "read" now. You only have to read her a book once and she remembers the title and main plot and tells it back to you. We go to the library once a week to exchange her 30 or so books because I get sick of them by that time. She is such a bookworm! So now book time in the mornings sometimes consists of her reading books to Aja as well.

Figuring it all out

Morning Walk

Sedona pushing one of her many babies on our morning walk. It's a cold, frosty morning out there but the sun is shining.

Less than a week after the first crazy west coast storm of the winter hit us, Friday was a cloudless calm day. To mix it up a bit on our Friday afterschool family time, we loaded up the row boat and headed up to Trout Lake for a row. This is the lake that Dad used to take us fishing as kids, but we didn't see any evidence of fish yesterday. We did however have a flat lake, a peaceful row and a Hoodie, Kinglets, and Hairy Wood pecker to keep us company.

My first solo bath

Sadly, Dad's hairy leg made the frame but overall I had just a great time in my Friday night soak!

Finally!

Yeah- we finally have a recreation centre a few minutes away from our house! This has been 34 years in the making as it kept getting turned down by the community. It just opened on Saturday and we went for our first visit (make that 3) today. It's awesome!!!!!! We met Cousin Owen, Auntie Ann and Uncle Andrew for a swim this morning and the kids had a ball. The facilities are great- full size pool, kids pool which is warmer and shallow, a lazy river for the kids, hot tub, sauna, water slide, diving board, aerobics studio, and fitness room. In the afternoon, I went back to do lengths and then Chris went afterwards to use the gym. Yes, it is a novel idea right now, but I have a feeling this family will be getting tonnes of use out of it- especially on days like today- cold, rainy and winds up to 90 km/hour. We are so excited about these new possibilities!!!!!!

Look at Me!

Aja is becoming more mobile these days. As you can see, she can stand up holding onto things now and rolls all over the place both ways to get to things.

Happy Birthday Cousin Owen!

Making cupcakes for Cousin Owen's second birthday. We forgot to get a picture of him blowing out the candles!

Morning Fun

If you click on the image to make it larger, you'll notice Aja's two bottom teeth. They came in early at 5 1/2 months compared to Sedona at 8 months.

Leftover Pumpkin

I spent a good chunk of yesterday and today cooking and pureeing our Halloween pumpkin. It lasts a long time in the freezer. Some of my favourite pumpkin recipes include pumpkin soup (we had it for dinner tonight), pumpkin muffins and pumpkin ravioli. If anyone wants any of these recipes, let me know, or, if anyone has any exciting pumpkin recipes to share with us, please do so!

20 Step diet continues

The inspiration of growing food for our family continues. This harvest was picked a couple of days ago. There still is more to harvest, and the garlic is preparing itself for a winter's nap. Soon it will be time to convert a couple more square meters of sod into garden beds. Will keep you posted.
