Food Runs in the Family
This morning it was neat to watch Sedona and Aja interacting with one another. Sedona was "mixing" soup for Aja with her play fruits and veggies. Aja was diving in having a great time and getting water all over herself, Sedona and the kitchen floor. She looks so pleased in the next picture because she's showing off how she can now eat big pieces of food by herself. This morning she had steamed carrots and watermelon not cut up!

Sun in winter
here's a view from this week's beautiful weather. This morning was extra special as all four of us sat down for blackberry pancackes and watched the sun rise together. I got back yesterday from the annual BC Alternative Education Conference, so our family breakfast this am was extra special.
Enjoy. chris

9 Months Old
At 9 months old, Aja's favourite thing to do is stand holding onto something, let go with one hand for a while and then with the other and land on her bum. She chuckles away while doing this and repeats it over and over again. Unlike her sister who was crawling all over the place like a speed demon at 71/2 months, I'm not convinced Aja will ever crawl. She's assumed the position for well over a month and a half now and has a great reach to get things, but doesn't appear too interested in the rest. She loves walking holding onto hands though so that may come before crawling for her.
Sedona's Hair Salon
I know it looks like sedona could use a new "du" herself. We're growing out her bangs and she looks so cute with her bangs pulled back with a barette. She never keeps them in long enough for me to get a picture though. In the meantime, she loves working on Dad's hair! It's too short now for pretty ponytails or braids though!

Welcome Baby Avery
Sedona just met her friend Karys' baby sister Avery for the first time today at 5 weeks. In Sedona's entire three years of life, I don't remember her ever sitting still for this long. She held Avery in her lap for close to an hour just patting her and watching her. And no, for those of you who are thinking ahead, that doesn't mean it's time for another one. Two's the magic number!!!!!!

Bugs! Bugs! Bugs! Oh and a Birthday!

Come and get your worms and dirt!
Opening a pony from Clara (that she brought to bed with her tonight)
Cheers!
Aja getting some hang time with Aiden
Clara and Sedona hunting for their treasure
Sedona had her third birthday party today and considering she loves bugs so much, we had a bug theme- bug crafts (decorating ladybug rocks),bug coloring pages, a treasure hunt to find bug paraphenalia (magnifying glass, bug stickers, a lizard that sticks to the wall{pretend it's a bug, okay?}, and bug gummies)and worms and dirt for desert (chocolate pudding, gummy worms and oreo cookie crumbs). Thanks to everyone for coming and for all the wonderful gifts!

Birthday Jewels

Sedona turned three on Monday! She seems so grown up now- she understands everything, can say everything and does everything we do. Everything now is about being a big girl. She likes to eat from "Mommy and Daddy's dishes" and now goes to music class alone! It's crazy how quickly they grow up. She loves jewelry, so one of her birthday gifts was all these beads to make jewelry. She's having her birthday party this weekend.

There's Something to be said about a Day in the City
No pictures- just a reflection. It's been so wonderful having Chris off work for a couple of weeks. We have had lots of great quality time as a family and it's always wonderful to see him bond with the girls. Today was a wonderful day. We took the 8:30 ferry into Vancouver and went to the Aquarium where we spent 2 1/2 hours. As Sedona gets older, she enjoys it more and more. Aja particularly enjoyed the dolphin show. Following the aquarium, we went for a 2 hour walk around Stanley Park and English Bay while the girls slept. After our long walk, we went to a coffee shop for some drinks and snacks before taking the 3:30 ferry home. There really is something to be said about a day in the city once in a while!
