Logan Lake/Lac Le Jeune Trip

We just got back from a road trip towards Kamloops. We spent two nights at Robert and Karen's condo in Logan Lake where we geocached, did some walking and biking as well as playing/swimming in Kamloops. Then we met our friends (Ev and I lived together for 4 years in University) at Lac Le Jeune to camp for 2 nights. The campground was beautiful and we did some riding, relaxing and lots of swimming. There are so many wonderful places to explore in our province. It would be so easy to keep going back to the same places, but my goal is to bring the girls somewhere new every summer to camp. Soccer Camp

Sedona's learning to play soccer for the first time. She's signed up for a program called "Kicks for Kids." It's every day this week for an hour and 15 minutes and it's a great program!

A Great Visit!

We will be sad to see Nan and PK go. The girls have kept them busy with swimming (at the big pool and our little one- Nan even went in!), reading, walks, pedicures (Nan- you are a trooper!), a BBQ with the Sechelt grandparents, dinners out and lots of babysitting duties so Chris and I could get out and ride! It's such a treat when they come!

Sechelt Inlet Boat Trip

We took a 2 hour boat tour up the Sechelt Inlet yesterday with Nan and PK. Another beautiful day on the coast with seals, bald eagles, lion's mane jellyfish and each other!

One Awesome Present!

Robert and Karen went to a fundraising silent auction a little while ago and bought a 6 hour boat trip for 4 (including appetizers, drinks and dinner) which they generously gave to Ann, Andrew, Chris and I. It was a fabulous day. We left from Halfmoon Bay and went over to Thormanby Island. We were gone for 7 hours in total. The weather was perfect and the company was great! Even better, our hosts/captains were our neighbors Bruce and Sandy (pictured below)who made it all the more enjoyable! Thank you so much Robert and Karen for the wonderful day! And thanks to Nan and PK who took care of our little munchkins so we could go!

Activities

Kayaking, jumping off the boat/swimming, and Bocce Ball on the beach.

Adults Only

Our mode of transport: this 44 foot boat!

Dinner: beef tenderloin skewers, prawns wrapped in asiago cheese and bacon, Greek chicken and salad and orzo salad with a trifle for desert... Delicious!!!!

Some of the Beautiful Scenery

All Hands on Deck

Bruce and Sandy set out a crab trap on the way to the island. When we pulled it up on the way home, there were 5 crabs, but they were either all too small or female so we had to throw them all back. I think Chris had fun during the process though!

Sandcastles and Skimboards

We just got back from an awesome session at Davis Bay where there was a low tide of 0.2 m (pretty much as low as it gets)! The annual sandcastle competition was going on as well so I threw a few of those creations in for you to see. Chris also got some skimboarding in, so it was a great day!

Good Karma

Yesterday at the grocery store, Sedona asked Chris if we could buy some flowers, to which he responded "we already have so many flowers at home in the garden." She then asked me, and I gave the same response, even though I didn't hear Chris' answer. This man overheard the whole conversation and said "I'm going to buy these flowers for you. I have 11 grandkids myself. Let's go and pay for those" and he did at a cost of $7! Sedona was just thrilled and thanked him with the biggest smile on her face. He said to her "if you do nice things for people, they'll do nice things for people too." A good lesson! It really resonates for me with Sedona as she is such a good kid. Just before at the hatchery, we ran into another little girl from the preschool. Her father told us how his daughter really struggled and was nervous at first at starting preschool, and what helped her was Sedona. She always greeted her at the door and took her under her wing and that helped her. So we talked about that with her after the flowers. Sedona is that kind of kid who really is very caring and helpful- she makes her parents proud!

Catching Dinner

The girls cuaght our dinner last night at the local fish hatchery. Aja was very keen to catch her fish, but didn't want anything to do with it besides that.
